Szaarej Teszuwa Siddur The Jewish Community in Warsaw has published the first Jewish prayer book in Poland since the Second World War. Siddur has more than 700 pages containing Ashkenazi daily and Shabbat prayers. Moreover, the is also a translation of the prayers into Polish, most important ones are given in transliteration texts. SIDDUR – PRAYER BOOK FOR CHILDREN The recently published prayer book for children is undoubtedly a perfectly edited publication. This sewn hardback has 88 pages containing most important daily and Shabbat prayers as well as the ones for important holidays. The editors, Anna Ciałowicz, Magda Koziej and Małgorzata Kordowicz, as well as the publisher, the Jewish Community in Warsaw (Pol. Gmina Wyznaniowa Żydowska w Warszawie), can be proud of this book! The whole book is written in an accessible way to children. All prayers have been translated into Polish, the most important ones can be read in transliteration texts, which are hidden behind smaller rotating pages. This enables children both to learn how to read and understand the prayer. The whole book is beautifully enriched by illustrations by Marianna Sztyma, thanks to which, as is always the case with books for children, the book turned out to be a success. They depict the Israeli history of the Promised Land, landscapes resembling the ones in Poland and house interiors that every child knows well: tables laid for Shabbat, made beds before sleep. One thousand copies have been published, each one will surely be useful for youngest Polish Jews who now start to worship God by saying: Boże mój, dusza, którą mi dałeś, jest czysta. Ty ją stworzyłeś, Ty ją uformowałeś, Ty tchnąłeś ją we mnie. Ty jej we mnie strzeżesz i w przyszłości zabierzesz mi ją, by potem zwrócić – w czasie, który nadejdzie.
