On Wednesday 21, March  at Nozyk Synagogue, Warsaw prayer for those who were harmed during Monday’s tragedy in Toulouse will commence. Yesterday, in the area of Jewish school, unknown assassins shot three children and a man.

Jewish community of Warsaw is shocked by the current events in Toulouse. Thoughts of Polish Jews are with the families of deceased, at this most difficult time of loss.

The delegation of the General Rabbinic Conference of Germany, Allgemeine Rabbinerkonferenz Deutschland, visited Poland between February 19 and 25. The cities which were visited are Wroclaw, Krakow and Warsaw.

Board of The Jewish Community of Warsaw heartily invites members and employees of the Community to participate in the internal meeting, which will take place on :

February 29^th (Wednesday), 6:00 p.m. (18:00) at the Nożyk Synagogue.

The Nozyk synagogue is home to the Jewish Community of Warsaw (Gmina Wyznaniowa Zydowska w Warszawie). From the complex at ulica Twarda 6 a number of Jewish activities for both the Polish capital and nation are conducted.

As you probably know, the ten commandments are viewed by many as the epitome of our religion. What you may not know is that drinking a glass of wine is considered one of the ten commandments.

The text of the commandment about szabat in Exodus (Szmot – 20:7) is that we are commanded to „remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy”. Jewish tradition asks how can we remember szabat in a sanctifying manner, and has a clear answer: kidusz!
